Haller was executive chef at the White House from 1966-1987, serving Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard M. Nixon, Gerald R. Ford, Carter, and Ronald Reagan. For the Carter family, Haller's kitchen often prepared Southern comfort foods, such as baked cheese grits, fried chicken, and shrimp gumbo.
